Research interests

Assistant Professor Kozma Ahačič’s research focus is the history of Slovene grammars and ideas about language, and closely related topics.

Since 2007 he has been lecturing on the history of Slovene in the School of Humanities, University of Nova Gorica; since 2008 he has been delivering lectures on the history of Slovene in translation within the framework of the course “Slovene society, culture and literature”, offered in the Department of Translation, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana; in the summer semester 2010/11 he was a visiting Professor at the Alpen Adria University of Klagenfurt (Alpen-Adria Universität in Klagenfurt), teaching “History of Slovene”.

 He is co-editor of the journal Slovenski jezik/Slovene Linguistic Studies.

Born: 27 April 1976 in Kranj.

1997–2001: teacher of Latin at the High School in Škofja Loka (Gimnazija Škofja Loka).

2002: graduated (BA Hons.) in Slovene and Latin language and literature from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.

 Since 2003: employed (tenure) in the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, ZRC SAZU.

 2007: completed his PhD Thesis titled Misel o jeziku in književnosti pri slovenskih protestantskih piscih 16. stoletja.

 In 2001 and 2003 studied Russian at the Pushkin Institute in Moscow.

 20092011: participated in the compilation of the “Bela knjiga” on education.
