Metka Furlan (22 March 1955) is the head of the Etymological-Onomastic Section. Her research focusses on Slovenian, Slavic and Hittite problems from the field of Indo-European comparative linguistics and etymology, partly also with onomastics and theoretical questions of etymology. She is a member of the editorial board of the linguistic journal Jezikoslovni zapiski and a lecturer of the Hittite language in Laryngeal theory at the Department of Comparative and General Linguistics at Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana.
