Januška Gostenčnik is a researcher at the Department of Dialectology. Her research work includes the analysis of dialectal material with special emphasis on local dialects in border areas. She participates in the preparation of the Slovenian Linguistic Atlas and The Slavic Linguistic Atlas. She is a member of the working group of the International Commission for the preparation of the Slavic Linguistic Atlas.

Since 2009 she has been teaching tutorials for the course Slovene dialectology and Phonology at the School of Humanities, University of Nova Gorica.
