Januška Gostenčnik is a researcher at the Dialectological Section. Her main focus is on the Kostel dialect. She participates in the preparation of the first volume of the Slovenian Linguistic Atlas. She is a member of the working group of the International Commission for the preparation of the Slavic Linguistic Atlas.

Since 2009 she has been teaching tutorials for the course Slovene dialectology and Phonology at the School of Humanities, University of Nova Gorica.
