Research: preparation of the Dictionary of the Slovene literary language of the 16th century
Dr. Jožica Narat has participated in the development of the Dictionary of Slovene Protestant writers of the 16th century and in the preparation of an alphabetical list of all the words (with appropriate morphological data) from these works. The results of her research were published in two different editions: the edition published in 2006 was based only on biblical texts, whereas the edition published in 2011 drew from all the texts. Since the beginning of 2011, she has been preparing trial editions of this dictionary. Between 1992 and 1995 she prepared a revised edition of Slovar stare knjižne prekmurščine by Vilko Novak, which incorporated the principles developed in the trial fascicle of the dictionary.
She proofreads and revises professional and literary texts.

1982: graduated (BA Hons.) from the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, and the Department of Comparative Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, in the field of Slovene language and literature and comparative literature.
Since 1985: employed in the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, ZRC SAZU.
1990: completed Masters Studies in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis Sinonimi v jeziku Jurija Dalmatina (izvor, pomenske in stilistične funkcije).
2000: completed PhD in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis Semantika samostalnika v jeziku Jurija Dalmatina in Jurija Japlja.
