Associate Prof. Majda Merše’s research focuses on the history of Slovene, particularly on literary Slovene of the 16th century. She is especially interested in the verb. She is also conducting investigations in several other areas closely related to the lexicography.
Since 1975 she has been participating in the preparation of the Dictionary of Slovene Protestant writers of the 16th century: she has collected and compiled materials; prepared a trial fascicle (2001) and a word-forming and grammatical inventory of the vocabulary used in the book editions (2011); and prepared dictionary articles.
Between 1997 and 2009 she lectured in the Faculty of Education and in the Faculty of Arts, University of Maribor.
She is co-editor of the Slovene issues of the international series Biblia Slavica (2 books, 2006).
