Marko Snoj (born 1959) focuses on the etymology of Slovenian appellative and onomastic lexis, especially geographical proper names and surnames, as well as the history of the Slovenian language, foremost in the 17th and 18th centuries, accent studies, lexicology and lexicography. As a researcher at the Lexicological Section, he is in charge of editing interjections and participates in etymological illuminations in the new edition of the Dictionary of the Slovenian Standard Language (eSSKJ). He is the editor of the institute series Slovarji (Dictionaries) and a member of the editorial board of the Fran portal. At the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, he teaches two courses, Indo-European Comparative Grammar: Accent and Ablaut and Introduction to the Etymological Method.
