Research interests

Mojca Horvat is participating in the preparation of the first volume of the Slovene Linguistic Atlas, focusing on research of diachronic and synchronic aspects of Slovene dialects.

Since 2008 she has been participating in the project Slavic Linguistic Atlas – OLA. She attended the working group meetings of the International Commission for the preparation of the Slavic Linguistic Atlas in Sarajevo (2008) and Minsk (2009).

For her doctoral dissertation, she has been investigating the structure and geolinguistic interpretation of dialectal vocabulary using the semantic field of the word ‘plant’ and its derivatives.

Since 2010 she has been working as assistant (tutor) in the Department of Slovene Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, in the courses “Slovene dialects” and “Social genres in Slovene”.

As a native speaker, she has been investigating the Prekmurje dialect.

Curriculum Vitae

Born: 5 January1984 in Murska Sobota.

2007: graduated (BA Hons.) from the Department of Slovene Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis Geolingvistični prikaz nekaterih leksemov iz pomenskega polja bolezni – samostalniki (po gradivu za Slovenski lingvistični atlas – SLA).

Since 2007: employed in the Dialectological Section, at the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, ZRC SAZU.

2011 –2012: enrolled in the final year of her PhD Studies in Slavic languages and literature, (study program History and dialectology of Slovene language), in the Department of Slovene Language and Litereature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana.

Currently, she is completing her undergraduate studies in Polish language and literature, in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana,

2004 and 2006: participated in two one-month courses of Polish in Wroclaw and Krakow.
