Research interests

Associate Prof. Andreja Žele focuses her research on the Slovene and Slavic lexica and syntax.

In the Department of Slovene Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, she lectures in lexicology, morphemics and syntax of Slovene language.

Since 2004 she has been the technical editor of the journal Slavistična revija, and since 2011 a member of the editorial board of the same journal. Since October 2004 she has been a member of the International Commission for the grammatical structure of Slavic languages at MSK which is currently chaired by Prof. Predrag Piper. From November 2005 to November 2011 she was the Head of OSIC Centre for Humanities.

Curriculum Vitae

Born: 7 August 1963 in Postojna.

1987: graduated (BA Hons.) from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, in Slovene language and literature.

1993: completed Masters Studies in the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis Besedotvorne in skladenjske lastnosti slovenskega glagolnika.

2000: completed PhD in the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, with the thesis Glagolska vezljivost v slovenščini.

She has published two monographs from the field of syntax: Vezljivost slovenskega knjižnega jezika in 2001, and Glagolska vezljivost: iz teorije v izraz in 2003. In 2008 she completed Vezljivostni slovar slovenskih glagolov.

In 2005 she became a member of the first international group of experts for evaluation of research project proposals, organised by the Slovenian Research Agency (ARRS), and in 2006 she was engaged within the same agency as a member of the group of international experts in the field of linguistics. Since 2005, she has been nominated (seven times) for a mentor of young researchers whom she has been training in the field of lexicography.

Since 2011: employed in the Department of Slovene Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, and part-time in the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, ZRC SAZU.
