Researcher on the Dictionary of Newer Standard Slovene Words, and the Great Slovene-Hungarian Dictionary
The research activity of Alenka Gložančev includes synchronic lexicography, orthography, standardization, language culture, and onomastics (focusing on business and company names).
Since 1977 she has been participating as editor in the following projects, conducted in the Lexicological Section: the preparation of the Dictionary of Slovene Language (1977–1991); the Slovene Orthography (1991–2001). Since 2001 she has been participating in the preparation of the Dictionary of Newer Standard Slovene Words and, as a part of this project, she has been working in 2007–2009 on the subproject the Contemporary Slovene Lexicon (online language resources). since November 2010 she has been working on the project the Great Slovene-Hungarian Dictionary.
Apart from her research on dictionaries, she has been investigating language culture, especially business and company names in Slovene, and has written a monograph on this topic (1991, 2000).
She is a member of the Slovene Governmental Commission for the Standardisation of Geographical Names.

Born: 26 August 1951 in Ljubljana.
1977: graduated (BA Hons.) from the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana, in the area of Slovene language and literature, and French language and literature.
Since 1977: employed (tenure) in the Lexicological Section, at the Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language, ZRC SAZU.
1998: completed Masters Studies in the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, with an interdisciplinary thesis from the area of onomastics (company names).
